Interac e-Transfers, matched to invoices.
Every e-Transfer matched to the invoice it pays, even when the message is wrong or missing.
What comes in from Interac
- e-Transfers received
Sender name, amount, reference number and the message your customer typed, as your bank shows them.
- Interac debit
Debit card sales at the terminal, settled through your processor with the day’s card sales.
- Invoices
What each customer owes, from your ledger, with the invoice number they were asked to quote.
Why it won’t match on its own
The message is free text
Customers type the invoice number, their own name, “October” or nothing at all. No two read alike.
The sender isn’t the customer
A spouse, an owner or a bookkeeper sends the money, so the name on the deposit matches no account.
Autodeposit hides nothing, explains nothing
With autodeposit on, transfers land straight in the account, one line each, with no invoice attached.
One rule, in plain words
Match Interac e-Transfers to QuickBooks invoices by the invoice number in the message, or else sender and amount.
invoice no. in message, else sender ≈ customer and amount1,185 matched
An e-Transfer that pays part of an invoice keeps the rest on the match as an open difference. One that matches nothing stays open with its message, ready to look up.
What Numerics works out
Numerics counts how each e-Transfer was matched, so you can see whether asking customers for the invoice number is working.
You go run your business.
Bring a month of Interac records to the call. You’ll see them matched before it ends.
