Shopify orders, taxes and all.

Every order matched to its payout and deposit, with GST, HST and PST kept in their place.

What comes in from Shopify

Why it won’t match on its own

  1. The tax depends on the address

An order to Ontario carries HST, one to British Columbia GST and PST. Totals differ for the same cart.

  2. Refunds reverse the tax too

A partial refund takes back part of the tax, weeks after the payout that carried the sale.

  3. The deposit only names the payout

Your bank sees Shopify, not the order, so each order has to be found through the payout’s transactions.

One rule, in plain words

Match Shopify orders to payout transactions by order number, tax included, before fees.

The payouts then match the RBC deposits they became. An order paid another way, or not at all, stays open where you can see it.

Only orders matched to money in the bank are counted, so this is tax you collected, not tax you invoiced.
